Mark F. Swingle, CFP®


As a committed CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner with years of experience, I am driven to help guide people and their families toward their goals and thereby help achieve success. My passion for the markets, calm demeanor and disciplined approach to investing are my secret sauce for my client’s success and the long-term relationships I have with them.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In 1996, I joined Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and in 2000, I earned my CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation. From the start, I excelled in my career and soon emerged as a top producer in the financial services industry. By 2004 my practice outgrew the MassMutual system and I moved to an independent model using Kestra as my broker/dealer.

In November 2017, Westfield Financial Planning became an independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Up until then, we had operated as both a “Representative” of Kestra’s RIA and as a broker with Kestra’s broker-dealer. This arrangement no longer made sense as we almost exclusively work as an RIA rep and therefore operate under a fiduciary standard of care for our clients. We have been operating as a fiduciary for over 20 years. As a fiduciary, it is required in a court of law to always put the client’s interests first.

I am deeply passionate about helping my clients achieve their financial goals. I choose to work with a select group of private clients which gives me the freedom and flexibility to spend more time educating them and updating my own practice while working to provide creative, top-notch money management.

The success of my practice as an independent financial planner has been built up over many years. I experience joy at seeing my others succeed and reach their goals. My clients typically put first rate money management as the most important reason they seek me out, however, I feel that is simply a baseline, not the endpoint. Emotions around saving, investing and money are naturally destructive to success. Even the best financial advice does not prevent greed and fear from wreaking havoc on well-laid plans, therefore the most important service I believe I provide my clients is to help instill and reinforce a disciplined, non-emotional and goal-driven approach to investing.

We foster an environment that emphasizes education. Our clients are encouraged to keep their eyes on their goals instead of the inevitable ups and downs of the markets so that they can be well positioned to take advantage of periods of recovery because investment decisions are made on the basis of their knowledge rather than emotion or fear.

Our services are more than just financial counsel. I won’t exaggerate and neither will I hold back important information for fear of giving offense. We want to work with you to make money management less complicated. Our aim is to create a simple and flexible plan that will meet your financial objectives.
